TruSeal Technologies of Beachwood, Ohio, has introduced a new family of hot-melt butyl and polyisobutyelene insulating glass (IG) sealants named EdgeTherm. The first product in the line introduced is a one-component, 100-percent solid sealant system called THM 3000 hot-melt butyl. The company says THM 3000 was developed specifically for edge-sealing IG units.
The product has a low viscosity and is anti-sag with easy gunning characteristics at low temperatures, according to TruSeal. The product also does not require any mixing, has minimal waste, fast setting times and allows for quick handling of finished IG units. Truseal says it provides outstanding adhesion to glass and metal substrates typically used in IG fabrication.
Truseal says EdgeTherm THM 3000 is ideal for hand-gunning applications and for use on automated dual-seal applicators, as well as for in-house sealing of IG units for residential windows in which glazing material and practices are controlled easily.

Schnee Morehead of Irving, Texas, has announced the introduction of its new proprietary Cura Sil® technology, which the company says will allow it to manufacture adhesives and sealants that meet customers’ requirements.
The first product introduced in the new line is the SM 2100 sealant, a moisture-cure product that can be applied as the primary back bedding seal to glaze windows. The product can be painted and stained, it also adheres to all known window substrates and has excellent elongation and ultraviolet characteristics, according to the company.
Fen-Tech Introduces Super Extension Jambs

Window manufacturers who ship their products to high-moisture applications may want to check out Superior, Wis.-based Fen-Tech Inc.’s new SuperJamb extension jambs. The core is a combination of wood (wood powder) and a proprietary blend of thermoplastic resins. The SuperJamb can be used for exterior trim as well as jamb extensions and resists installation damage better than its wood counterparts, according to the company.
The product is waterproof, cuts like wood, is easily machined, is paintable, is available in five widths and is 5/8 inches thick with 16-foot lineals.

The latest product in this cooperative effort is the new Royal Wood door jamb. According to BASF, the jambs are wood-plastic composites capped with a BASF Luran® S acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylate (ASA) weatherable polymer.
