Glass Expo Midwest 2001 Arrives in Minneapolis

Glass Expo Midwest™ ’01, the glass industry’s largest regional event, will be heading to Minneapolis and the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel on October 5-6, 2001. Co-sponsored by the Minnesota, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin Glass Associations, the Detroit Glass Dealers Association, the Independent Glass Association of Illinois, Glass America and
USGlass, AGRR, Window Film and Door & Window Maker magazines, the eighth annual event will provide extensive educational and networking opportunities.
Exhibits and Seminars
Attendees can browse exhibits from the top companies dealing in architectural and specialty glass, glazing supplies, films, tints, metals and much more. The exhibit hall, featuring nearly 70 exhibitor booths, will be open on Friday, October 5, from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. and on Saturday, October 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Seminars and demonstrations led by industry experts will run concurrently throughout the course of the weekend. Featured topics include safety in the glass industry, security and protective glazing, the damaging effects of waterspots on glass, improved customer service and selling techniques and mirror installation troubleshooting.

Networking and Social Opportunities
There will also be several opportunities to take a break from the exhibit floor and network with colleagues. Attendees may take advantage of a guided tour of the Viracon facility on Friday morning. A luncheon sponsored by Palmer Mirro-Mastics will run from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, October 5, and will feature a guest speaker sponsored by Tubelite.
After a full day of learning, there will be social networking opportunities for anyone involved in glass or related industries. A welcoming cocktail party will kick things off Friday at 6 p.m., followed by the eighth annual Glass and Metal Hall of Fame™ dinner and induction ceremony. This year, Jim Johnson of Sommer & Maca Industries in Cicero, Ill., and Dale Schenian of City Auto Glass in South St. Paul, Minn., will be honored and recognized for their accomplishments.

Location, Location, Location
This will be the first time Glass Expo Midwest visits the Minneapolis area. The “City of Lakes” is a memorable place to visit with its flourishing arts community, sparkling lakes and fine quality of life. You can step on a plane in most American cities and be in Minneapolis in less than two and a half hours to enjoy great shopping, fine cuisine and diverse cultural experiences.

The Mystic Lake Casino Hotel is located 20 minutes outside of the city featuring Vegas-style gambling and Broadway-type shows.
