Paint can fade or start to peel with time, which leaves your front door looking dull. Repainting your front door is an easy and effective fix.<\/p>\n

  1. The first step is to remove the door from its frame. Although it is possible to refinish the door while still mounted, removing it makes the prepping process much easier. This is especially true in cases where a screen, storm or glass door may be in the way. Once that\u2019s done and you\u2019ve placed the door carefully onto the floor or ground outside, remove the hardware from the door. That includes the door\u2019s hinges, door knob and knocker if possible.<\/li>\n

  4. Sand the old paint job on your door until the door feels smooth all over. If the door still doesn\u2019t feel smooth, try sandpaper with a finer grit. Always make sure to wear a dust mask and safety goggles while sanding to protect yourself.<\/li>\n
  5. Get rid of the dust with a vacuum or cloth before priming. Move the door to an area where it will stay clean<\/li>\n
  6. Add primer to the front of the door and let it dry completely before priming the other side. Once the back of the door is completely dry, you can begin painting your door whichever color you like (hopefully your HOA agrees). Add additional coats of paint until you achieve your desired look.
